Brand Identity
Our vision for Rhianna’s brand was to inspire her audience to be authentic, while exploring pre-loved fashion and embracing the joy in afro-activism.
We focused on finding a brand identity that is charming, witty and rebellious, with the goal of empowering and enchanting her audience to show up as their authentic selves and discard white-washed beauty standards.
It was important Rhianna’s brand was as bold, playful and unapologetic as she is.
We designed Rhianna’s logomark to be just as recognizable as hers by highlighting her distinct features: big curves, big earrings, and a big Afro. We wanted to perfectly balance both “chic” and “street” aesthetics across her branding assets, graphic language and color palette.
Social Strategy
We worked the Afromoji campaign into Rhianna’s design system, ensuring the icons could be spotlighted on her social media. The Afromoji icons were created by designer Kerrilyn Gibson.
Over three years, Rhianna has petitioned to have Afromoji available on our digital keyboards. Her global campaign garnered over 75,000 petition signatures on Change.org and was featured in the New York Times, NPR, Now This and Metro UK among many others.
Our team developed a color-blocked Instagram layout so Rhianna could seamlessly create content within templates and themes. With quote templates, stock images, personal photographs and her design system, Rhianna’s grid is primed to showcase her wide range of interests. At the same time, she can give casting agents a good sense of her capabilities.
