Hudson River Riders

The Hudson River Riders Program at The Yonkers Paddling and Rowing Club (YPRC) is on a mission to provide access to the Hudson River and develop the next generation of environmental stewards. The HRR program offers various public programs for local youth, making the river more accessible to communities who otherwise wouldn’t have access to outdoor activities like kayaking and paddling.

Brand Identity

Keeping the original logo (top/left) was important for the HRR team, but we wanted to expand the logo into a full suite that could be recognizable and used for various print and digital formats. The Alternate, Secondary and Favicon came together using the kayak and paddle icons from the original logo.

The goal was to create a space that would evoke the feeling of freedom one feels when participating in an HRR program. We also wanted the online experience to reflect the HRR team’s integrity and convey how HRR is about much more than the outdoors, but about supporting the youth and community.

Merchandise Design

For the graphic assets, I wanted to speak to the target audience -- the youth -- and create some illustrations and taglines that would be fun-enough for young people and trendy-enough for the leaders to rock some merchandise!

The focus of the merchandise design and “patch kit” brand graphics is meant to connect with an audience of youth who are looking for the freedom, joy and adventure that comes with an outdoor experience, but also feels equitable and accessible.
